RestScout is an independent review site. We are not a laboratory and we do not claim hands-on testing of every pillow we cover. Our reviews come from four inputs, applied consistently to every product we recommend.

Specification analysis

Fill type, loft, firmness, cover material, adjustability, dimensions, and safety certifications (CertiPUR-US, GreenGuard Gold, OEKO-TEX) pulled from each manufacturer’s own listings and product pages. We list the certifications we can verify and flag the ones we cannot.

Verified-purchase review analysis

We read hundreds of Amazon reviews per product, weighted by recency, looking for recurring themes: chemical odor, cover durability, loft after six months, heat retention, and problems that only show up after extended use. We prioritize verified-purchase reviews and discount pattern-generated or heavily-solicited ones.

Published sleep-ergonomics research

We reference peer-reviewed studies and guidance from sources like the Sleep Foundation to cross-check product claims. We do not run our own clinical trials and do not publish as medical advice.

Manufacturer-claim cross-check

When a brand’s claim (“odorless”, “cools by 5°C”, “lasts 10 years”) contradicts aggregated user reports, we call it out in the product section rather than repeat the claim as fact. The goal is to tell you what the specification says and what buyers actually experience — and where the two disagree.

How we make money

RestScout earns commissions from Amazon when readers buy through our affiliate links. That does not change which products we recommend or how we describe them — it funds the time we spend researching. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t publish fake testing logs or fabricated first-person experiences.
  • We don’t use AI-generated product photos or stock imagery passed off as real reviews.
  • We don’t give medical advice. Pain that persists or worsens needs a physician, not a new pillow.
  • We don’t recommend products we haven’t researched, regardless of commission rates.

If you spot an error in a review, a broken link, or a recommendation that no longer matches current product specs, tell us via the contact page. We update posts when the underlying products change.
